A revitalized Medvedev secured his first trophy for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has had a challenging year, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's initial trophy following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface since March of the previous year.

Success also indicates he has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 various events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my children simultaneously, so to win a championship is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring reactions on the playing surface had prompted commentators to doubt if his capacity to perform at the top level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an better serve.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five points to go ahead.

The pair swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first professional victory, gained dominance to push for a final set.

He saved 4 initial chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the win with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
